My Review
LETHAL TARGET is another roller-coaster, emotional, danger-filled suspense. From the beginning there is action and a murder to be solved, and the plot just thickens from there. The characters and small-town are again an enjoyable part of the story, with Tess and Oliver taking the forefront. The inspirational element is stronger than in the first book, but well done. It felt genuine and was inspiring as these characters work through some very difficult things, both in the past and in the present. Another highly recommended read for inspirational suspense readers!
I've fallen in love with the characters in this series. Tess is just fabulous and easy to relate to. She's conflicted, tough, but has the biggest heart, and has her own past issues to work through. The town also has its own issues to work through as Tess is faced with a murder to solve, a heckler who hates her and makes life miserable, and a target on her head. Then there's Tess trying to work through her faith and decide if she's ready to open her heart again.
There are mainly just two point-of-views in this story, between Oliver and Tess. I wasn't sure why Oliver had a strong POV at first, but then I got the why and enjoyed seeing what he was thinking and getting his perspective. I'm not quite sure I'm in love with where things are leading there, but I'm hoping I'll warm up to it in the next book. There were a few other short POVs from some others, which always throws me a little, but worked for the story.
Then there's the suspense. There is a lot going on in this story! Different people missing, different crimes being committed, law enforcement politics, as well as law enforcement trying to figure out what's going on and who is to blame. I really like how this series is so steady. There is a steady stream of things happening, little clues here and there, character development, different aspects with faith and a touch of romance. Everything grows in intensity all the way to a climatic ending.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I couldn't put it down and was flipping pages as fast as I could towards the end. There's plenty to love for inspirational suspense fans! I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.
Content: Some violence due to this being suspense, but clean.
