Summary
Alex Foamer is in love . . . with the untouchable singles ward heartthrob who has no idea she exists. Enter Sealey Witchburn, the manipulative, sarcastic ward executive secretary, whose scheming is Alex's only chance to catch her crush’s attention. My Review
CATCHING LUCAS RILEY was a rather entertaining read! Readers are sure to enjoy the banter, sarcasm, humor and friendship between these characters as well as the sweet romance.
These characters were so fun! I loved Alex's group of roommates. I loved her idolizing swim team. I loved her family, when they're involved in the story. But, most of all, I loved Alex and thid one guy who is part of her life in some interesting ways. I also had to laugh at the perspectives of the LDS single scene and the ward that Alex attends. Even though the characters are Mormon, there wasn't really a religious aspect. Lucas's sister played her role well in frustrating me as a reader (you know, wanting to reach into the book and shake her a little) and wondering how Lucas couldn't see what she was doing. Obviously the author did well in writing her as a semi-villain. Then there were these humorous, heartbreaking, and sweet moments that really made this book for me.
There were a few things that did bother me, like that Alex didn't quite win Lucas over without interference and that she was keeping that part a secret. I also wanted the end and Alex's reconciliation with her friend stretched out a little more. Those were really my only issues though.
In the end, was it what I wished for? Overall, this was a cute and fun read that brought out some feels and left me with a smile.
