Summary
When Lenora Perry’s dream of becoming an acclaimed singer dies a painful death, she attempts to escape her mistakes by fleeing north—directly into the path of an all-too-dashing Mountie. Though the man in scarlet appears eager to be rid of her, his home provides security, and his sister offers friendship—two things Lenora is desperate for after discovering her pregnancy. With the past dogging her footsteps and her future uncertain, dare she consider new dreams?
Upholding the law makes up the fabric of Constable Edmond Bryce’s existence. As his five years of service draw to an end, he must decide whether or not to continue in his father’s footsteps—an increasingly difficult decision now that Miss Perry has infiltrated his life. Though she’s the daughter of a parson and a close friend to his sister, Edmond can’t push aside the feeling that Lenora hides more than she tells. But duty calls, leaving little time for matters of the heart.

Author Interview
What inspired you to write a story where your hero is Canadian Mounted Police?
Jennett Oke’s When Calls the Heart has been a favorite read since I was a teen, and the Hallmark series is pretty great too, but the Canadian West is also my home. Most of my writing has been focused abroad (I even have a WWII French Resistance story releasing April 1st - no joke!). It’s fun to finally come home and write about my backyard and the people who helped make it what it is. And really, there aren't nearly enough heroes in scarlet.
Which character do you most relate to and why?
Honestly... Edmond’s sister Melina, LOL. But the why is a discussion for book two!
What advice would Lenora give about dreams changing?
I think Lenora, at least by the end of the story, would try to tell you to be open to new dreams. Life is about growth and change...and change can sometimes take you to unexpected places.
What was a book that made you cry, a book that made you laugh and a book that made you swoon?
Too many books! Let me think... The last Regency novel I read had me laughing: Manor for Sale, Baron Included. Swooning happens much less frequent, but Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart came close. And crying. I’m having a hard time remembering which book it was, but I admit to shedding a few while writing A Rose for the Resistance, a WWII story.
What’s something you enjoy doing when you’re not reading or writing?
I love watching the sun set behind the Canadian Rockies from my porch swing. Living along the mountains, also gives lots of opportunity for hiking and camping with the kids, which is fun.
What are you working on next?
I have been busy with book two of this series, Where West Winds Lead that features Edmond’s sister and an “outlaw” on the run from Colorado. I also have another Mountie story, a novella, releasing with Barbour publishing next year so watch for that one too! Very excited about both these stories and all these heroes in red.
