Release Celebration Blitz for
50 Hours
By Loree Lough

Note from the Author

When Kevin J. O’Neill asked me to novelize his screenplay of 50 Hours, I was beyond flattered. He’s a well-established actor, producer, director, and writer, himself, and knows hundreds of talented authors. To say that he hooked me on the story during our very first phone conversation is an understatement. His enthusiasm was contagious, and once I read the actual screenplay, well, I was RE-hooked! Instantly, my mind started whirling with ideas that could broaden and deepen the storyline and the characters: I saw the hospice center in my mind. Envisioned Franco and Aubrey. Built on the screenplay’s basic descriptions until the main characters were well-rounded, believable individuals with interesting backgrounds…and believable, reader-identifiable flaws. I knew right away that these two would need other characters to interact with, so I invented them. They helped me expose the inner fears, thoughts, and joys the main characters were hiding—from others, and from themselves. (Kevin included a bluejay in his screenplay and I loved it so much that I turned it into a secondary character, and oh, what fun I had writing him!)

Weekly Update #221, June is coming to an end...

Welcome to my Weekly Update where I post my blog's schedule for the week!

I'm linking up to The Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book ReviewerTynga's Reviews for Stacking the Shelves and Mailbox Monday showcasing the books I added to my shelves or Kindle this week, and It's Monday! What Are You Reading? hosted by Kathryn @ Book Date.

Our garage finally gets fixed up Tuesday, so this very long stint of cleaning is almost at an end. I've been rearranging furniture, organizing, and cleaning for three full weeks now and it's quite exhausting. I've been too tired to read at night or really at any time and I'm now behind, which bugs me quite a bit. We have family in town from both sides of the family over the next two weeks. We're really looking forward to it, but I'd also love some down time after the cleaning is finished to reboot. We also hit record highs this last week, reaching almost 120 degrees. That's hot even for here. This week will be busy, but hopefully a little more relaxing than the last three.

Here's what to expect on the blog:

Book Tour Launch for
Family of His Own
By Catherine Lanigan

THE FAERIE TOUR

Welcome back to THE SHORES OF INDIAN LAKE! If you’re reading the series and following our Prism book tours, I’ll bet you weren’t expecting something as fantastical as a Faerie Tale, especially after dealing with cops, drug dealers and PTSD like we did with Cate Sullivan and Trent Davis in PROTECTING THE SINGLE MOM, now did you?

And who said that Faeries couldn’t be suspenseful or daring? Have you ever seen a faerie? And besides Tinkerbell and the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, I’m guessing that except for depictions in art, you haven’t a clue what they’re like.

What would it be like if you were an artist like say, Isabelle Hawks, one of Sarah Jensen Bosworth’s best friends, who claims she has seen faeries flitting across Indian Lake and hiding amongst the Lily pads along the shore? What if you based your entire future and art career on portraits of faerie and water sprite faces? Or you believed so much in their magic that you continued to paint them year after year, hoping that someday, you’d be offered a chance to show your art at a famous metropolitan art gallery?

Well, that’s exactly what has happened to Isabelle. She has believed in her talent and her subjects all her life. Now, her chance is here, but on the same magical, romantic New Year’s Eve when she is only days away from showing her art to a Chicago gallery owner, her best friend and confidante, Scott Abbot, proposes marriage to her. His timing is just about the worst in all romantic history. Realities about his own life have hit Scott between the eyes. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Isabelle is more in love with her career than she is with him. If he wants a family of his own, he’s not going to get it with Isabelle. Knowing he can never love another woman the way he loves Isabelle, Scott offers to become a foster parent to two abandoned children of a drug dealing/ heroin addicted mother.

Dead certain that he would find his life and goals fulfilled with five year old Bella and her eighteen month old brother, Michael, Scott is haunted daily by the void left in his world by Isabelle’s departure. Not only is her art selling well in Chicago, but a disturbingly handsome, famous and talented artist has shown far too much interest in Isabelle.

Scott has always been Isabelle’s rock. He’s been patient. But for the first time, he realizes he has to fight for her love---and fight to win.

Come with me on this new journey to the SHORES OF INDIAN LAKE.

Born Princess Vanessa of Atlantica, the ambitious young royal was one of two children born to the great King Poseidon. She and her brother, Triton, were groomed from birth to rule. Weekly Update #220, in which I'm still cleaning house...

Last week I talked about how much cleaning and reorganizing I've been doing around the house. I thought I'd be done, but things are taking much longer than I thought they would, so I'm still going...

We have family staying with us in two weeks and a garage to be turned into an automatic garage so everything has to be done. Thus, me being MIA here and online as a whole. I apologize to those of you who have left comments and haven't gotten responses. I promise to be back to responding in a couple of weeks and to check in when I can in the meantime.

The house is looking better and is just about done except for a few boxes to be gone through and some decorating I'd like to get to. The garage is going to be a pain because we're hitting 120 degrees (yes, you read that correctly!) for the high here on Tuesday and it's going to be rather hot out in the garage. We don't normally reach close to those kinds of temps until the middle of July, but it's coming early this year. Perfect timing for me (sarcasm included). Wish me luck! And maybe send some cooler weather prayers my way... ;)

But, back to reading... Here's what to expect on the blog:

Weekly Update #219, Cleaning house...

I've spent the past two weeks cleaning house. Not regular cleaning, but deep cleaning and organizing. My plan is to get rid of the things we don't use/need and the kid things that the kids have outgrown.

We also got new furniture in our family room. It's our first nice set that we actually care about and so the kids have to treat them well. It feels like a new stage that our kids are actually old enough that we can get a nicer set.

I've literally spent from sunup to past sundown going through everything and crashing exhausted into bed each night. I've rarely been online and haven't been reading either. I really wanted to read a book Saturday. Was actually craving a good book, but didn't get to it. So, Sunday I'm planning on doing some serious reading. Monday I'll start back with the last room I have to go through and then it will be on to the garage, which has never been thoroughly organized in this house, so I have quite a hill to conquer, quite literally.

But, back to reading... Here's what to expect on the blog:

This is my story.

In this thrilling installment in the John Wayne Cleaver series, Dan Wells brings his beloved antihero into a final confrontation with the Withered in a conclusion that is both completely compelling and completely unexpected.

“Fans of Jeff Lindsay's Dexter series will welcome Wells's gripping debut.” ―Publishers Weekly on I Am Not a Serial Killer

“Wells's debut is an unabashedly gory gem. This deft mix of several genres features a completely believable teenage sociopath (with a heart of gold), dark humor, a riveting mystery, and enough description of embalming to make any teen squeamish, even if they won't admit it. Buy multiples where it won't be banned.” ―Kirkus Reviews (starred review) on I Am Not a Serial Killer

“This dazzling, un-put-downable debut novel proves beyond a doubt that Dan Wells has the gift. His teenage protagonist is as chilling as he is endearing. More John Wayne Cleaver, please.” ―F. Paul Wilson, New York Times bestselling author

“The beauty of the prose, mixed with the depth of characterization, gives the haunting, first person narrative a human touch. Regardless of your age or your genre preferences, you will find this story both profound and enthralling.” ―Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author

Researching this novel was different from any other I’ve written, because Ian Sylvestry is my first ex-convict hero! A very troubled teen, Ian got involved with some bad dudes, and didn’t realize just how bad they were until, one rainy night, he goes along with them as they commit a felony. He had plenty of time to think about his unwise, immature choices while he served ten years for the crime. Plenty of time to think about all the people his imprudent decision had hurt. Upon his release, he works tirelessly to become a respectable citizen, and earns the respect of family and friends. But is it too late to win back the heart of Maleah Turner, the love of his life…?

Rockin' Book Reviws - Review

"The story is a very good one. The characters were portrayed well, the scenes easily visualized from familiarity, and had a steady smooth flow throughout most of the book. A few real social problems are addressed. It is also a story of strong family relationships and support, and of dysfunctional homes. It is often uplifting and has a few twists which adds to the drams. I truly enjoyed the quite predictable tale."

Summary

As her first London Season looms before her, the thought of the impending social whirl fills Daphne Lancaster's timid heart with dread. She hasn't her sisters beauty nor their talent for conversing easily. Even her family's enviable connections may not be enough to prevent disaster.

But Daphne's misery turns to surprised delight when the first event of her Season brings an unexpected visitor to her door—James Tilburn, whose tender kindness stole her heart in her youth. When the handsome young gentleman expresses his desire to court her, Daphne is elated. Their feelings for each other quickly grow, and it appears that, much to Daphne s disbelief, her happily ever after is within reach.

Yet nothing is as it seems. The couple finds themselves caught in a tangled web of greed and deceit, leaving James and Daphne to determine whether they are willing to risk everything for true love.

Internet sensation Madison Nakama has it all! Her pop-culture rewatch site has a massive following, and fans across the world wait on her every post and tweet. Internet fame has a price, and their online romance sparks the unwanted attention of a troll. When Madi’s “real life” hits a rough patch, she feels her whole world crumbling. I can't wait for... The Secret of the India Orchid by Nancy Campbell Allen (Can't-Wait Wednesday/Waiting on Wednesday)

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you're continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here.

I love this line of books and have yet to be disappointed. If you enjoy historical romance, then you should definitely check out this newest release that's my pick this week...

Night Magic
(Nightstruck #2)
by Jenna Black
YA Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Horror
Hardcover & ebook, 288 Pages
May 30th 2017 by Tor Teen

Summary

Jenna Black returns to the quarantined city of Philadelphia, where an unsuspecting seventeen-year-old has unknowingly unleashed a dark power that transforms the city into a monstrous hellscape in Night Magic.

Philadelphia is locked in the grip of an evil magic that transforms its streets into a nightmare landscape the minute the sun sets each night. While most of the city hunkers down and hopes to survive the long winter nights, Becket Walker is roaming the darkened streets having the time of her life.

Once, the guilt of having inadvertently let the night magic into the city―and of having killed her onetime best friend―had threatened to destroy her. But now she’s been Nightstruck, and all her grief and guilt and terror have been swept away―along with her conscience. So what if she’s lost her friends, her family, and her home? And so what if her hot new boyfriend is super-controlling and downright malevolent?

Mesmerized by the power and freedom of not having to care about anyone but herself, Becket is sinking ever deeper into the night magic’s grasp. But those who love her refuse to give up on her―even if she’s given up on them. If they can’t find a way to help Becket break the night magic’s hold, the entire city might soon find itself shrouded in perpetual night. But the last thing Becket wants is to be “rescued” from her brand new life, and she will fight tooth and claw to stay exactly where she is.
