My Review
THE SINGLE DAD'S HOLIDAY MATCH is a sweet story about a single mom and a single dad who connect over a crime investigation, but find that sparks fly between them. It's a sweet story as these two two characters have to work through some things in their pasts in order to not let a chance at love go. There is also a great small-town feel, a lovely family dynamic and some fun side characters. Recommended to fans of the Heartwarming line and genre.
I loved these characters from the start! Jonathan is a solid, good guy who is trying to do his best to be a father to his two girls after his wife died a handful of years ago and win a promotion as a police officer. He's good at what he does and you see what you get, which I appreciated. Brooke is a strong woman who has had to survive on her own as she cared for her son as a single mom and is excellent at her job running a community center. Both have some things that they have to work through to be open to the possibility of love. Of course, they don't really have a choice as they end up working together on a case and the chemistry between them continually pops up regardless if they want it to or not. It's a slow-build romance as they get to know each other and their families, which I liked. I also liked how easy they felt together as a couple. There was a fun group of older ladies who liked to meddle just a bit which was fun as well. The ending was particularly humorous and perfect for this story.
There were only a few things that bothered me with this story. Some of the drama was just too much for me. I also couldn't understand some of these characters choices nor their responses. They're going along fine and then all of sudden they send completely different signals. I just couldn't figure out why the constant hot and then cold way they reacted. I think I would have like that to be a bit more smoothed out so I just didn't feel so frustrated with them.
In the end, was it what I wished for? This was an easy read with likable characters, mostly on the light side with some deeper heartfelt moments, and a sweet romance. Overall, a very enjoyable story!

About the Author
She lives in Georgia with her wonderful husband and her four kids (Kath, MJ, Cupcake, and Chunk). She often talks about her new rescue beagle, Linus, on Twitter and Facebook. One of her favorite things to do is to curl up with a glass of iced tea and a dessert while watching a classic movie (think all the way back to Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, snappy dialogue, and shoulder pads).
She loves visiting new parts of the country while attending writers’ conferences.
